A torrid tale of teachers and lawyers, with a cameo appearance by a large shark. Words by Bill, photos by Bill, Mary and Paul. (Cue the spooky space music...) Inner space... the final frontier... these are the voyages of the dive boat Aquatica... its six-day mission to seek out new life forms, explore the Bunaken reefs, to keep Jason awake past 9pm, and to boldly go where not many of us had gone before... (Bearing in mind the huge number of teachers on this trip, I would just like to say that your narrator is aware of the split infinitive above, so no detentions or adverse marks on my report card, please.) And so to Manado. What's there? Well on the very northern tip of the island of Sulawesi there lies a marine park called Bunaken, and it was to this Mecca of diving that the Motley Crew set out under the leadership of Jason Marsden, ably assisted by Mary. She has a second name, but it's beyond the linguistic abilities of this writer to attempt it. Eighteen scheduled dives in six days, with night dives for those with a particular urge to boldly go. |
