...and getting away from rain, if you're not into yoga and you have half a brain, come diving in Tulamben and escape from... well, everything. Words and photos by Alicia. After the plane landed at Bali International Airport, we climbed into the bus. Over the course of the next three hours we wound up and down through the rice fields, to the east coast of the island, to an oasis called Tulamben. It sits beneath a volcano, on top of natural water springs and has large, smooth black pebbles on its beach. Upon arrival at Tauch Terminal Resort we were greeted by Sigi, who briefed us on the resort's facilities and all the diving days ahead. If you are looking for a diving location where you don't have to move a finger, except to adjust the straw in your pina colada, this is the place for you. While I can't speak for the other rooms, room number 32 is probably one of the best, because you merely roll over in the morning to be greeted by the view of lapping waters on the shores of Tulamben, complimenting the beautiful distant sunrise. |
